George Brabec
Principal Geophysicist
George graduated from Macquarie University in 2007 with a BSc in Geology and Geophysics. During the final semester of his degree, he commenced work at Alpha Geoscience in Sydney.
Over his 11 years at Alpha Geoscience, George gained extensive experience in shallow ground-based geophysical methods, including magnetics, FDEM, seismic refraction, GPR, capacitively and directly coupled resistivity, and borehole logging (including optical and acoustic televiewers).
George’s project experience spans groundwater, contamination, geotechnical investigations, unexploded ordnance (UXO), concrete scanning, utilities and grave location, coal, and shallow mineral exploration. He has delivered projects for clients such as Rio Tinto, BHP, Caltex, Lendlease, MMG, SMEC, and numerous state and federal government departments. His expertise in near-surface and borehole logging has enabled SGC to broaden its data acquisition and processing capabilities, adding significant value for clients in exploration, safety, and remediation contexts.
George’s experience in near-surface and remote locations has also strengthened SGC’s niche acquisition department. He regularly heads into the field to collect and QC data as part of this rapidly growing team. George was promoted to Principal Geophysicist in 2026.
