David is a geologist and senior executive with over 30 years’ of international resource industry experience in diverse roles and commodities covering all aspects of the mining industry from exploration, operations and business development, through to feasibility studies, financing and construction.

He graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1982 with a BSc (Honours) in Geology and began his professional career as a mine geologist in the Southern Cross and Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

In 1988, David joined WMC Resources as a Senior Geologist becoming Chief Geologist at the Kalgoorlie Gold and Widgiemooltha Nickel Operations before spending eight years based in Brazil as Technical Director of WMC’s South American gold and base metals exploration programs. He returned to Australia in 2000 and spent a further five years with WMC as Chief Geologist, Resource Development Manager and Registered Manager within their various nickel operations.

Since then, David has held senior technical and executive roles for junior Australian and overseas explorers, including founding director and founding shareholder of ASX-listed Paringa Resources Limited which is progressing with the development of the Buck Creek thermal coal project in the Illinois Basin, USA.

David joined SGC in 2016 in the role of Managing Director. In 2021 David was made Non Executive Director and Director New Business.
