Southern Geoscience Consultants announces Anne Tomlinson as their new Managing Director

Southern Geoscience Consultants (SGC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Anne Tomlinson as their new Managing Director, with Dave Chapman moving into the role of Director New Business.

Anne joined SGC in 2005 and has held the role of Principal Geophysicist for the past nine years. She has been on the senior management team since 2018 and was appointed to SGC’s board of directors in 2019.

SGC Chairman Bill Peters said, “Anne is the perfect choice for this demanding role. Through her sixteen years at SGC, her talent and drive has contributed greatly to making SGC the successful, respected global consultancy it is today. She understands the company extremely well, is highly respected, and liked by all at SGC. The company continues to grow its core services and is expanding in several new areas and Anne is the right person to lead SGC through this expansion.”

Anne received a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics in 2001 and Master of Science in Geology in 2004 from the University of Auckland. She joined Newmont Asia Pacific’s inaugural graduate program in 2004 as a geologist working at gold mining operations in North Queensland and Western Australia before joining SGC in late 2005. Anne has been keenly involved in professional geoscience organisations including the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists as a Past President of the WA branch and five years as a director on the board of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, as well as being a mentor in the AIG Mentoring Program. She has a passion for geoscience outreach and, since becoming a mum of two, has been a CSIRO STEM Professionals in Schools volunteer hoping to inspire the next generation of geoscientists.

“The promotion of Anne to the role of Managing Director is a tremendous step for Southern Geoscience.”, said Dave Chapman. “Anne has been a strong contributor to the technical team for many years, a committed shareholder and key part of the management team and SGC board. Anne’s move into her new role reflects the strong belief SGC has about the development of its staff and succession planning for the future.”

In his new role as Executive Director, Dave Chapman will be focussing on the identification and development of new business opportunities for SGC, whilst supporting Anne in her transition to the MD role.

Jeff Elliott, Non-Executive Director of SGC commented; “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Dave Chapman for his great service and leadership over the last 5 years. Dave has overseen a period of significant improvement and strengthening of the business, and SGC is in very good shape as he passes the baton to Anne for the next exciting phase of growth. We are very pleased that Dave will continue to be part of the leadership team and see this change as very positive for the business.”
